What is detailing?

Detailing is the process of an extremely thorough cleaning, compounding,  polishing and waxing of a vehicle, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail. Besides improving appearance, detailing helps to preserve resale value of a car.

What products do you use?

I spend countless hours researching and testing products to ensure my customers receive the highest quality detail. Each product used in this shop is extensively tested by myself to ensure the product lives up to its expectations. Depending on the package that is being completed will determine on what products are used.  Products range from Megiuars, Optimum, Menzerna, Shine Supply, Poor Boys, and Detail King.

How long will my detail take?

This all depends on what package is being done and the size of the vehicle. Time ranges from 1-2 hours for a wash to 17-20 hours for a paint correction.

What is a clay bar & what does it do?

Auto detailing clay bars is an engineered resin compound used to remove contaminants from the surface of your car’s paint, glass, fiberglass and metal. Detailing clay can be natural or synthetic, though most manufacturers utilize synthetic clays, Similar to what you played with as a kid but designed for automotive finishes.  Detailing clay glides along the surface of your paint and grabs anything that protrudes from the surface. The particle sticks to the clay and is therefore removed from your vehicle.  Detailing clay removes embedded contaminates such as stubborn sap, tar, bug remains, brake dust, industrial fallout, acid rain deposits and rail dust. This step is vital to prepping the vehicle for polishing. Also waxes and paint sealants will adhere better to clean paint and the shine will be more uniform and vibrant.

How often do you recommend I get my car detailed?

Well that is dependent on a number of factors such as road conditions, weather, where you are driving, and personal preference all play a role. Your vehicle should be washed at least once every 1-2 weeks and waxed monthly.

What is a paint sealant? Is it any different then wax?

You have two basic choices when it comes to paint protection: carnauba wax or synthetic paint sealant.  A carnauba wax is the preferred car wax of collectors and enthusiasts because it creates a rich, warm glow. It doesn’t appear to sit on the paint. It transforms the paint into a deep, liquid pool that shimmers under changing light conditions. A carnauba car wax finish will wear off in approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

A polymer paint sealant is made of polymers, which are composed of tens of thousands of synthetic particles that are linked together. The real selling point of a paint sealant is its durability. A premium paint sealant can last 4-6 month, sometimes longer.

What is a paint correction?

Paint correction is a term used by professional detailers to describe the process of restoring rejuvenating the painted surfaces on a vehicle.  This process removes surface imperfections, that dull, oxidize, or haze the surface by reflecting light off in various directions, therefore detracting from a true and proper, clean, sharp, reflection. These imperfections include things like swirl mark,  fine scratches, bird dropping etching,  acid rain etching, hologramming, buffer trails, and random isolated deep scratches (or RIDS).  The actual correcting process comprises of a small amount of clear coat being removed from the surface with the use of abrasive polishes, which are applied and worked in with appropriate polishing machines, in order to level out the surface.
